Tara E. Ward, MSNR
Tara has been deeply involved in environmental and STEM education for many years. She has a Masters degree in Natural Resources from the University of Michigan, concentrating in Environmental Education and Advocacy. She was Project Director for the SEEDS After School 21st Century Community Learning Centers program and also acted as Lead Education Evaluator and Education Coordinator. She is trained as an External Evaluator for Program Quality Assessments. At SEEDS, she focused on programming that emphasize the link between SEL growth and environmental education, providing resources including learning kits, guest facilitators, curricula, and an interactive website of environmental education resources on monthly themes. Her own consulting firm has created environmental and science education units for school districts and publishers, and she has provided extensive educator trainings. She is an officer on the Board of Directors for The Greenspire School, an environmentally-focused middle school, and was nominated as Environmentalist of the Year, Educator Division, by the Northern Michigan Environmental Action Council. She also founded and ran a very successful environmental education outreach program in southeast Michigan through the Ecology Center. For fun, Tara spends her time enjoying her human and non-human community by birding, botanizing, and swimming in and around Lake Michigan.
