Adult Rating of Youth Behavior

The Adult Rating of Youth Behavior (ARYB) was designed to assess child and youth behavioral skills and to help staff think more deeply about how their practices at the point of service influence young people’s SEL skills, particularly behavioral skills. The ARYB focuses on specific observable behaviors that indicate the presence of both SEL behavioral skills (more reliably) and corresponding SEL mental skills (less reliably).

Using an observational tool like the ARYB invites us to ask ourselves how the program setting(s) are impacting each student, and to measure skill growth over time.
